What We Build

Three things every child takes home.

01 · Foundation

Technique that grounds

A body that knows how to stand, move, and carry itself — built from the first class, strengthened over years. Real physical skill is the foundation everything else grows from.

02 · Creative Mind

Curiosity that grows

A mind alive with questions, ideas, and the freedom to make something new. Not copying steps — discovering what movement can do. Creative work in every single class.

03 · Spirit of Joy

Joy that stays

The feeling of moving freely, making something beautiful, being seen. That joy builds confidence that outlasts the studio — a spirit that believes in itself for life.

MDC's teaching is grounded in the National Core Arts Standards in Dance, the NDEO Standards for Dance in Early Childhood, and the principles of daCi — Dance and the Child International.

Who We Are

Dance that develops the whole child — and stays with them for life.

Mapleton Dance Center is a private studio founded and directed by Amy Markgraf — tenured Professor and Dance Education Program Coordinator at Utah Valley University, with more than 30 years of teaching experience.

Classes are small. Teachers are exceptional. The approach is rooted in the Virginia Tanner tradition and grounded in national and international dance education standards.

This is not a competition studio. We measure success by growth, joy, and love of dance — not trophies.

Non-competitive

No trophies, no rankings, no pressure. We dance because movement is joyful, creative, and human — not to win.

Small classes · Max 12 students

Every student gets individual attention. Amy knows every dancer's name, strengths, and goals from day one.
